The Cable Digital News newswire feed is an easy way to track industry supplier announcements. Light Reading uber-parent United Business Media (UBM) also owns PR Newswire, enabling such informational synergies.

A headline grabbed my attention today: "Cablevision Deploys Harmonic." (See Cablevision Deploys Harmonic.)

There's a news nugget that could make a supplier's stock move. Except the deployment was with Service Electric Cablevision, the independent cable operator in Pennsylvania, not the mega MSO in the Big Apple, Cablevision Systems Corp. (NYSE: CVC).

However, the next item on the list does actually involve the Gotham City Cablevision. (See OL Tunes to Ethernet Video.)

Cablevision's business services division Optimum Lightpath has rolled out a metro Ethernet-based Broadcast Video Transport (BVT) application. A cool app for service providers with big enough pipes.
