IRVINE, Calif. -- Solarflare(TM) Communications announced today that Russ Krapf has joined the company as vice president of sales and business development to strengthen customer relationships and OEM partnerships subsequent to Solarflare's sampling this past summer of the industry's first 100-meter 10GBASE-T parts. Krapf reports to Russell Stern, Solarflare's CEO.

The recently published IEEE 802.3an-2006 Standard for 10GBASE-T requires all physical layer chips to reach 100 meters on Category 6A cabling. "We won the long-distance race to 100 meters on Category 6A cabling by delivering standards-compliant samples to customers who are bringing their 10GBASE-T products to market in 2007," said Stern. "Despite discussions in the Ethernet industry to lower the bar and support lower reach solutions, Solarflare has been committed to solving the hard technical problem. We have stayed the course in order to support customers with 100-meter 10GBASE-T products. Now, as we move from design-in to production with our OEM customers, we are adding an industry veteran to ensure we build world-class partnerships with switch and server OEMs and enable solutions with our PHY, controller, and software products that accelerate the 10 GbE market. Russ is an excellent addition to Solarflare's executive team."
