PARIS -- France Telecom, via its subsidiary Equant, renewed a multi-year contract with Carrefour for the management of a global IP VPN (Virtual Private Network) and associated services. The contract covers interconnection of some of Carrefour's points of sale - hypermarkets, supermarkets or hard discount stores - in the 30 countries where Carrefour operates. Equant and Carrefour have enhanced the solution deployed in 1998. It proposes a full range of access solutions with bandwidth from 64 kilobits per second all the way to two 28-Mbps circuits. Included are class of service mechanisms for priority routing of business-critical information and a secure extranet linking Carrefour to its business partners and suppliers. The solution also provides Internet access with firewall security, proxy/cache optimization and videoconferencing. Equant
