BETHESDA, Md. -- Epok, Inc. (www.epok.net), a leading provider of data control and identity exchange solutions for Web Services, today announced Trusted Data Exhange (TDX) 4.0, the company’s next generation, flagship identity rights management platform which enables controlled exchange of data across network trust boundaries. TDX 4.0 permits enterprises, service providers and government agencies to securely exchange information with trusted parties. The TDX provides a policy services layer to control and manage Web Services transactions ranging from the open exchange of personnel information to sensitive, highly regulated financial communications.

“The need to access and exchange data across ownership boundaries spans all aspects of business and personal life, leaving little or no controls available over the exchange,” said Ayman Hariri, president and CEO of Epok, Inc. “The rise of Web services and the consequent breakdown of control has created a requirement for new levels of enterprise-wide data control and security. In most data access models, including Services Oriented Architecture (SOA), as accessibility to data increases—control decreases. Conversely, TDX 4.0 implemented in a SOA provides the highest levels of data controls, even as additional Web services are deployed across the organization.”

Identity management companies have thus far focused on providing application level controls for data exchange solutions. This leaves the onus of security on the application developer, leading to inconsistent policies across the enterprise—opening the door to privacy and compliance violations. Epok’s TDX 4.0 advances the Identity Management paradigm by creating a framework in which identities can be assigned for any data authority, including people, applications and abstract objects.

“Epok has been a strong supporter of the creation and advancement of industry standards that are enabling today's enterprises to deploy end-to-end identity management solutions across multiple networks,” said Karl Best, vice president, OASIS. “We are pleased to see companies such as Epok offering technologies that further advance the adoption of e-business standards and provide customers the ability to easily integrate data exchange applications into their existing environments.”

These identities regulate access to their components via policies in the form of digital contracts that provide directives for access, transfer, and utilization of data. This framework brings identity control, coordination and orchestration to Web Services by pushing policy management as close as possible to the data while still providing location independence and dynamic interoperability. Furthermore, TDX 4.0 provides a platform for allowing third parties to build data controls into their Web services applications. TDX 4.0 is a highly scaleable, extensible, interoperable identity services platform.
