John V. Pilitsis takes the helm. Eran Yarkoni continues as president

WALTHAM, Mass. -- CyOptics (www.CyOptics.com), a leading developer of 40Gbps active components, announced today the appointment of John V. Pilitsis as CEO. Pilitsis will be responsible for leading the company’s strategic business focus and operations, reporting directly to the board of directors. Eran Yarkoni continues in his role as president of CyOptics.

Pilitsis is an 18-year veteran of AT&T/Lucent Technologies, and served as the president of Lucent Optoelectronics from 1993 to 1998. He is widely credited with leading the turnaround of the Optoelectronics organization. Under his stewardship, sales rebounded from $172 million to over $450 million, and return on sales went from negative 50% to a positive 11%. Most recently, Pilitsis was CEO of FiTel Technologies.

Pilitsis holds an M.S. degree in Mechanical/Industrial Engineering and a Ph.D. in Systems Engineering from the University of Buffalo in New York. He spent twelve years at Western Electric in various management positions before joining AT&T/Lucent Technologies in 1980. After a broad range of directorships, Pilitsis was named VP of International Marketing and Sales for AT&T Microelectronics in 1980, and then appointed president of Lucent Optoelectronics in 1993.
