Crescent Networks, an emerging optical data networking system supplier, today announced that it has raised first round funding in excess of $13 million. The company is developing a new service delivery platform tailored for the most lucrative service provider opportunities of the new century.

Crescent Networks is led by a seasoned management and technical team from successful companies such as Cascade (now Lucent (NYSE:LU)), Fore Systems (NYSE: FORE), Lucent Technologies (NYSE:LU), Bay Networks (now Nortel (NYSE: NT), and GTE (NYSE: GTE). The funding round was led by three top-tier venture firms - Bessemer Venture Partners, St. Paul Venture Capital, and Venrock Associates.
