Cramer in Line for Unstrung Award

If your company is lucky enough to get on Unstrung's Top 25 Startups, don’t let it go to your head, because we’ll be waiting to bring you back down to earth with a bump.

Case in point: Cramer Systems Ltd., number 13 in our Top 25, recently issued a press release that’s given us a bit of a chuckle -- and tempted us to give Cramer a second award, for not only making an incredibly puffed up statement but also attributing it to a Crook.

The Crook in question, of course, is Jerry Crook, Cramer’s CEO, and his puffy claim is that “in 3G, Cramer is becoming as essential as a license.” (See Cramer Wins in Sweden.)

To be frank, Cramer has earned the right to be little arrogant. It’s been particularly fleet of foot in spotting new trends in the mobile market and adapting its inventory management software to cater for them.

The proof is in the pudding. Cramer has won a string of contracts with operators such as Hi3G Access AB, Hutchison 3G UK Ltd., KPN Mobile, Monet Mobile Networks Inc., O2 Ltd. (NYSE: OOM), and others. It’s also clinched partnerships with industry heavyweights like Siebel Systems Inc. (Nasdaq: SEBL), Micromuse Inc. (Nasdaq: MUSE), and Alcatel SA (NYSE: ALA; Paris: CGEP:PA).
