HICKORY, N.C. -- Corning Cable Systems, an industry-leading manufacturer of fiber optic communications network infrastructure solutions, introduces its LANscape® Solutions for Free-Space Optics (FSO). It is the ideal cost-per-bit solution for enterprise campus networks in need of connectivity where an optical fiber cable link is not feasible due to right-of-way or other complications.Corning Cable Systems LANscape Solutions for Free-Space Optics is the ideal alternative for local area networks (LANs) and storage area networks (SANs) requiring connectivity from 1.5 Mbps to 2.5 Gbps, allowing data and voice traffic to be transported through the air. Just like optical fiber transmission, FSO is protocol agnostic, offering seamless integration with existing networks.LANscape Solutions for Free-Space Optics includes FreeLink™ 1.0, FreeLink 2.0 and FreeLink 3.0 Optical Transmission Equipment. This equipment consists of two linkheads mounted within line of sight of each other on rooftops or behind windows, whereby data and voice traffic can be transferred.FreeLink 1.0 Optical Transmission Equipment is a robust single-beam FSO product designed for shorter-range, rapid deployment and redeployment of networks from 1.5 to 155 Mbps up to 510 meters. FreeLink 2.0 Optical Transmission Equipment is capable of transmission speeds up to 1.25 Gbps and 600 meters for the network professional demanding sub-Ethernet to Gigabit Ethernet connections. FreeLink 3.0 Optical Transmission Equipment is a four-beam product that offers speeds up to 2.5 Gbps and 1000 meters for OC-48 connections and up to 155 Mbps and 4000 meters for OC-3 connections.Corning Inc.
