FRANKFURT -- Cisco Systems today announced that COLT Telecom Deutschland, the German subsidiary of Europe's leading supplier of business network and application solutions, has chosen the Cisco 12400 Series Internet Routers as the platform for upgrading its nationwide IP network, in order to account for increased network traffic while rolling out new services such as streaming video. As one of the fastest-growing telecommunications suppliers in Germany, COLT Telecom is subject to a rapidly increasing flow of traffic across its network. In order to handle the rising demand of bandwidth, COLT has selected the Cisco 12400 Series Internet Routers as a means of immediately boosting capacity in the core to 10 gigabit per second. Georg Hofer, Chief Operating Officer (COO) for COLT Telecom Deutschland, said: "We have been impressed with the performance of our core routers to date, and the fact that Cisco could provide a simple 10G capability upgrade without compromising our existing technology investment was a major factor in our decision to choose them again. If we had opted for any other vendor, the result would have been lower performance at a higher cost." COLT Telecom Deutschland has selected Cisco 12410 Internet Routers and Cisco 12406 Internet Routers. COLT Telecom Group PLC Cisco Systems Inc.
