GLEN ROCK, N.J. -- RADVISION (Nasdaq: RVSN) today announced that its MCU and gateway technologies are used in Cisco Systems’ recently announced video telephony solution.

The new desktop productivity solution called Cisco Video Telephony (VT) Advantage release 1.0, announced by Cisco yesterday, allows real-time person-to-person video sessions to be added transparently to telephone calls. With Cisco VT Advantage and Cisco CallManager 4.0, users can cost-effectively create an instant face-to-face video call with access to the familiar hold, transfer and conference features of their Cisco IP Phone for the video-enabled telephone call. Cisco VT Advantage uses the flexibility of IP to provide broadcast-quality video and sound previously unavailable to most video conferencing systems.

The RADVISION technology is embedded in the Cisco IP/VC 3511 MCU, and in the Cisco IP/VC 3540 Series MCU module for the IP/VC 3540 Series Videoconferencing System, enabling users to implement multi-party video communications as part of an advanced IP telephony system. Features such as easy upgrading of calls from point-to-point to multi-party conferences, call transfer, increased ease-of-use, user profile management, and resource management are made possible using the Cisco MCU.

RADVISION technology is also embedded in the Cisco IP/VC 3521 BRI and IP/VC 3526 PRI videoconferencing gateways, as well as the IP/VC 3540 Series Gateway module for the IP/VC 3540 Series Videoconferencing System. These gateways connect H.323 videoconferencing systems on IP networks both with the public switched telephone network (PSTN) for wide area network connectivity and also provide the ability to integrate existing ISDN-based video endpoints into a Cisco-powered IP video telephony network.

Additionally, to provide IT managers and end users with integrated tools to administer and schedule video calls over an IP network, RADVISION recently announced that Cisco has granted Cisco AVVID Partner Program status to a number of RADVISION’s iVIEW management solutions; the iVIEW VCS and the iVIEW Network Manager. This status, building on the already close technology alliance between Cisco and RADVISION, provides users with management and scheduling solutions that have been tested by an independent third-party lab to be fully interoperable with the Cisco video telephony architecture.
