Cisco Field Update

11:45 AM -- The baseball stadium that Cisco Systems Inc. (Nasdaq: CSCO) will pay $4 million a year to help is officially starting to happen. Papers are reporting today that the Oakland Athletics have signed the contracts to buy the necessary land in Fremont, Calif.

That still puts the baseball stadium -- which will be packed with techno bells and whistles courtesy of Cisco -- at least three years away from reality.

The next step will be for the A's to submit their plan, which goes way beyond Cisco's scope. The full complex includes the stadium, a hotel, retail shopping -- and hopefully some space for parking.
