Former Nortel exec David Caspari has been appointed VP of Cisco's service provider operations for the Asia/Pacific sales region

HONG KONG -- Cisco Systems, Inc. (Nasdaq:CSCO) announced the appointment of David Caspari to the position of vice president of Service Provider Operations for the Asia Pacific sales region. Mr. Caspari will be based in Hong Kong and report to Gordon Astles, president, Asia Pacific.

Cisco is a leading provider of networking equipment and services to service providers around the world. The company focuses on helping service providers build efficient, scalable IP networks and deploy high-margin, revenue-generating services.

Mr. Caspari has a strong track record in the service provider market in the Asia Pacific region. Before joining Cisco Systems, Mr Caspari served as vice president for Wireline Networks, Asia Pacific, Nortel Networks, where he led Nortel Networks' overall Service Provider Voice, Data, Broadband, and Convergence business for Asia Pacific.

Prior to its acquisition by Nortel, Mr. Caspari worked with Bay Networks. He began his telecommunications career with Alcatel as a cadet engineer.

Mr Caspari holds a bachelor's degree in electrical engineering from the University of New South Wales, Australia and has completed postgraduate studies in business and marketing with the Australian Graduate School of Management and the Richard Ivey School of Business (University of Western Ontario, Canada).
