Chunghwa Femto Tender

NOON -- According to a report in Taiwan's Digitimes, Chunghwa Telecom Co. Ltd. (NYSE: CHT) has put a tender out for 3,000 femtocells that has attracted Alcatel-Lucent (NYSE: ALU), NEC Corp. (Tokyo: 6701), Nokia Networks , and Samsung Corp. to the bidding process. The report says the contract would be worth $3.3 million and that the winning bidder will be announced in September.

In other femto news today, NEC Corp. subsidiary NEC Europe teamed up with Motive to integrate Motive's service management software into NEC's femtocell access point management system. Femto vendors Ubiquisys Ltd. and Airvana Inc. also use Motive's management software. And Motive was snapped up last month by Alcatel-Lucent for $68 million.
