Chatting Up the 3G iPhone

2:15 PM -- Apple Inc. (Nasdaq: AAPL) has today confirmed that CEO Steve Jobs will have a keynote at the firm's Worldwide Developers Conference on the morning of June 9. This is widely expected to be the bully pulpit the company will use to announce the 3G iPhone.

The slight blurb on the Apple site says: "The keynote showcases two revolutionary development platforms: Mac OS X Leopard and OS X iPhone, the world’s most advanced mobile operating system."

If you've never been to a Jobs keynote, they are alternately hilarious and mind-boggling affairs. Jobs, resplendent in a black turtleneck, preaches Apple to the faithful. Tech hippies whoop -- and sometimes weep -- in the aisles. For some, it's a semi-religious, semi-orgasmic experience. If the 3G iPhone is unveiled, that should just add to the hysteria.
