ST. LOUIS -- Charter Communications, Inc. (Nasdaq: CHTR) today announced the selection of Cedar Point Communications, Inc., SAFARI C3 Media Switching System for use in the strategic deployment of voice-over-IP (VoIP) in select markets.

Cedar Point's selection was the result of a formal Request for Proposals (RFP) issued by Charter, according to Mark Barber, Vice President of Telephony, who said the initial rollout will be in Charter's Northeast Operating Division.

The simplicity of Cedar Point's integrated solution and their having been qualified at CableLabs. to PacketCable specifications, were key factors in our selection of Cedar Point as a vendor, Mr. Barber said.

Voice deployments unquestionably have become one of the top priorities for cable system operators, said George Kassas, founder and executive vice president, business development for Cedar Point Communications. We believe that increased activity in the telephony space by Charter, an industry leader across the spectrum of broadband services, underlines the importance of this category to the industry in general. We look forward to working with them to bring cable voice to their strategic markets.
