BOULDER, Colo. -- Carrier Access Corporation (NasdaqGM:CACS - News), a leading provider of wireless and voice integration solutions, today announced the general availability of the latest version of EdgeFLEX(TM) 100 and EdgeFLEX 600 products. These products allow the wireless operator to build a unified radio access network (RAN) for 2G, 3G, and 4G technologies, while laying the foundation for IP multi-media sub-system (IMS), enabling Ethernet backhaul, and delivering the ability for operating and capital expense savings. These products also allow wireline operators to gain strategic and financial benefits in their networks by enabling Ethernet and IP backhaul. The EdgeFLEX product line is a software-upgradeable solution eliminating the need of forklift upgrades and delivering to the operator a flexible asset that can be modified over time. As part of the Mangrove acquisition, Carrier Access® has continued and completed development of these products, resulting in a portfolio that enables a complete solution for their customers from the cell-site to the edge of the RAN.

"To build our next-generation network, we needed a resilient solution that could deliver aggregation of ATM, TDM, Frame Relay and Ethernet services over a efficient converged Ethernet network to support our future initiatives," stated Hakan Akan, founder and general manager at Grid Telekom. "Carrier Access' EdgeFLEX delivered a feature rich solution that met our goals, allowed us to benefit from the unparalleled ability to offer a cost-efficient converged Ethernet network, and even allows us to route SS7 over the same solution."

"Data@ccess required a solution that would enable us to significantly reduce operating expenses by transitioning from SONET leased lines to Ethernet," stated Pablo Martinez, vice president of engineering, Data@ccess Communications, Inc. "Carrier Access' EdgeFLEX solution had the best technology for this effort, was easily implemented and met our reliability, performance, and cost goals."
