HAMPTON HILL, U.K. -- The largest ever Gigabit-delivery laser network has been implemented for a major defence industry client in South Africa by the regional Cablefree Solutions company, Cablefree SA. The network installation, which is in the vicinity of Cape Town, was completed in the second half of October and is now fully operational. Cablefree SA's business enterprise clients are based across the SA region in towns including Cape Town, Durban and Johannesburg. According to CEO, Marius Dippenaar, "We have just completed the largest ever Gigabit laser network deployment across a five square kilometre campus for a major defence industry client. There is certainly not another bigger single laser network anywhere in Africa. "There are no RF links across the site for security reasons, which is why the Cablefree laser has been selected for its inherently secure mode of data transmission," Dippenaar said.
