VICTOR, N.Y. -- Burleigh Instruments, Inc. announced today the launch of the PCA-8000 Passive Component Analyzer for real-time characterization of DWDM passive components. The new Passive Component Analyzer, designed primarily for testing thin-film filters and fiber Bragg gratings, offers the highest absolute wavelength accuracy* measurement on the market. Wavelength accuracy measurements on the PCA-8000 Passive Component Analyzer are 15 to 20 times more accurate than on standard optical spectrum analyzers. In addition, the PCA-8000 enables optical component manufacturers to increase throughput rates and manufacturing efficiency with a measurement update rate of 1.75 seconds. Fast measurement updates allow component manufacturers to make critical adjustments during the manufacturing process and, as a result, optimize product performance. “Continuing advances in DWDM technology mean that manufacturers need more sophisticated test and measurement instrumentation to keep up,” said David Farrell, President of Burleigh Instruments. “We designed the PCA-8000 to provide the most accurate measurement available of insertion loss versus wavelength as well as a fast measurement update rate to allow for real-time process control.”Burleigh Instruments Inc.
