LONDON -- Small businesses across the UK now have access to the latest telephone services over the internet, Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP), with the launch of BT Business Broadband Voice.
Subscribers simply plug BT’s Broadband Voice box into their high-speed internet connection and then use a standard telephone handset to make calls, rather than having to connect via a computer. This means that internet calls can be made from anywhere that has a broadband connection, enabling employees to keep the same number, whether they’re working from the office or remotely.
Also, BT’s new service allows customer to use their broadband connections to reduce costs for multiple business lines. On average, Broadband Voice offers customers a 64 per cent saving over second line rental*.
The penetration of VoIP services is expected to increase by almost 300 per cent over the next three years**.
“VoIP is going to change the way small businesses look at their communications,” said Craig Rowland, Managing Director, Business at BT Retail. “Our Consumer Broadband Voice service was the first significant move from a major UK communications player; now we've launched a similar service for small businesses.”
