BT Lands Pepsi Contract

LONDON -- BT today announced that BT Americas Inc. has signed a seven year managed services agreement with PepsiCo Inc. (NYSE: PEP). With this agreement, BT will provide and manage an integrated portfolio of data, LAN, security, conferencing, remote access, and Internet services to support the information technology (IT) requirements for the PepsiCo International division of PepsiCo.

Under the terms of the contract, BT will manage PepsiCo International’s local and wide area network infrastructure across more than 900 locations in more than 60 countries. In addition, BT will migrate these services to a state-of-the-art, high-speed, IP-based global MPLS infrastructure.

PepsiCo expects to benefit from greater cost efficiency and control as BT provides a standardised, flexible and future-proof communications infrastructure platform with enhanced service levels to users. PepsiCo gains the ability to strategically leverage the solution to drive competitive strength, optimization in business processes and operations, and innovation, capability and agility. The contract is designed to ensure compliance to policy, regulatory and security standards and maximize PepsiCo’s use of global assets across its broad portfolio of brands.

PepsiCo also signed a global IT services contract with BT’s strategic partner HP to enable PepsiCo to consolidate its technology infrastructure from a distributed server environment into three global HP data centres.

François Barrault, President BT International, added, “This is a landmark agreement for BT – both in the Americas and around the world. It is further evidence of BT’s ability to satisfy the networked IT services needs of global corporations across all continents. We look forward to working with PepsiCo to deliver and manage services that will help achieve their business ambitions and enhance their competitiveness, now and in the future, within the food and beverage industry. We are also delighted that PepsiCo has chosen our strategic partner HP for their global IT services. This will give us the opportunity to add further value to PepsiCo by showcasing our joint investments in our services architecture. ”

“We are proud that PepsiCo has chosen BT to be their partner of choice for their international communications needs,” adds Chuck Pol, President, BT Americas Inc. “Large corporations headquartered in the U.S. want a partner capable of delivering consistently high quality and fully reliable service around the world. BT has a unique set of expertise in managing global network infrastructures and excellent professional services. More and more American companies recognize this, and we are committed to delivering such sustained value with this tailored solution for PepsiCo.”
