BT Group selects MetaSolv for VoIP

NICE, France -- MetaSolv Software, Inc., a global leader in comprehensive service fulfillment solutions for next-generation communications service providers, today announced that BT Group has selected and implemented MetaSolv's portfolio of service fulfillment solutions for its hosted Voice-over-IP (VoIP) service offering. MetaSolv's complete domain manager for VoIP service delivery comprises network and service inventory, provisioning order management, inventory reconciliation and discovery, and service activation. In its first phase of deployment at BT, the MetaSolv domain manager solution automates the provisioning and activation of VoIP services to business customers in the UK and across Europe.

Prior to implementing the VoIP provisioning solution, it took six months of intensive manual effort to migrate and deploy hosted VoIP services across 750 locations and 10,000 end users for a single corporate customer. By deploying MetaSolv's domain manager for VoIP, BT is able to roll out services to more than 50 locations per night, a key service delivery requirement of its major customers.

BT's VoIP product offers are focused on providing comprehensive managed communication services to enterprise customers over BT's extensive broadband infrastructure. VoIP services are a key component of BT's core strategy to build and leverage a converged 21st century network that provides reliable voice, data, and Internet services over one seamless, IP-based network.

With demand - and competition - for VoIP services rapidly increasing, BT urgently needed to evolve its back office operations, replacing manual service creation processes with a streamlined, automated domain manager solution. With MetaSolv's comprehensive solution, BT has the capability to define and standardize service packages that can be provisioned quickly in large volumes. The enhanced operations support system (OSS) for VoIP has significantly improved BT's end-customer requirements management, record customer information, and network usage tracking.

In addition to leading product functionality, key factors that influenced BT's decision to select MetaSolv for VoIP provisioning were MetaSolv's pre-integrated support for Cisco VoIP gateways and call-servers, and MetaSolv's partnering approach to meet and support BT's roadmap for success. Also, MetaSolv products are proven and deployed within the BT group, provisioning high volume services such as broadband and IP-VPNs.
