IRVINE, Calif. -- Broadcom Corporation (Nasdaq: BRCM), the leading provider of integrated circuits enabling broadband communications, today announced the Broadcom(R) BCM95822CP, a PCI-based Internet Protocol security (IPsec) processor card designed specifically for Check Point Software Technologies Ltd. (Nasdaq: CHKP). This new security board is the latest development in the continued partnership between the two companies to create and deliver next- generation wire-speed virtual private network (VPN) and firewall acceleration solutions. The BCM95822CP is seamlessly integrated with Check Point's market- leading VPN-1(R)/Firewall-1(R) software, demonstrating Broadcom's continued leadership in Internet security and its ability to deliver world-class hardware solutions for best-of-breed security software. The BCM95822CP security processor card integrates a high-performance IPsec engine that provides up to 500 Megabits per second (Mbps) of IPsec performance for 3DES and HMAC-SHA-1 applications. It supports bulk cryptographic functions such as DES, 3DES and ARC4 symmetric encryption algorithms, and HMAC-SHA-1 and HMAC-MD5 authentication algorithms. The new security card also features concurrent public key acceleration and symmetric key processing, a true random number generator, a PCI interface and requires no external memory on board. Since the BCM95822CP requires no external components and is seamlessly integrated with Check Point(R) software, it is the perfect solution for cost-sensitive security applications involving VPN appliances, edge and enterprise routers, and servers. "We are pleased to extend our strategic partnership with Broadcom to provide our customers with high-performance VPN solutions," said Goren Fink, Vice-President, Solutions and Strategy, Check Point Software Technologies. "The combination of Check Point's market-leading security solutions with the Broadcom BCM95822CP processor card addresses the needs of the high-end market with best-of-breed solutions that will meet and exceed our customers' demanding performance requirements." "The combination of Check Point's and Broadcom's security technologies allows network managers to secure very high volumes of network traffic generated by the growth of the Internet," said Ford Tamer, Vice-President and General Manager of Broadcom's Switching and Security Business Unit. "It is our intention to provide our joint customers with the most optimal VPN acceleration solutions in enterprise and ISP networks that feature ease of use, seamless integration, high performance and cost-effectiveness. The BCM95822CP meets those objectives." Broadcom Corp. Check Point Software Technologies Ltd.
