AMSTERDAM -- Brightcove (NASDAQ: BCOV), a leading global provider of cloud content services, today at IBC 2012 announced major new product offerings that accelerate and streamline the encoding workflow for on-demand and live video content. Zencoder Instant Play (TM) is a new capability that enables on-demand video playback to start just seconds after the file upload process begins, greatly accelerating the video publishing process. Zencoder Live Cloud Transcoding provides a powerful alternative to costly on-location live encoding hardware and dedicated uplink bandwidth.

“Video professionals have been conditioned to accept transcoding delays for on-demand content publishing and costly on-premise infrastructure investments for high quality live streaming,” said Jon Dahl, vice president of encoding services at Brightcove. “We are shattering the status quo with these new capabilities by using the cloud to nearly eliminate the transcoding-to-playback delay and make it possible to cost-effectively deliver high quality multi-screen live streaming.”

In a separate release:AMSTERDAM -- Brightcove (NASDAQ: BCOV), a leading global provider of cloud content services, today announced at IBC 2012 commercial availability of Google’s Widevine multi-platform digital rights management (DRM) technology for its Video Cloud online video platform. Brightcove Video Cloud customers, including Television New Zealand and LG Electronics, are now able to leverage Widevine for secure delivery and playback on more than 539 million Widevine-enabled consumer electronics devices worldwide, according to Widevine, 284 million of which are televisions, Blu-ray players, set-top boxes and game consoles.

Commercial availability of Widevine support for Video Cloud comes after Brightcove became the first online video platform to join and complete the comprehensive Certified Widevine Implementation Partner program, an intensive process that requires extensive training, written certification and hands-on practical testing. With Widevine now commercially available, Video Cloud customers have the potential to securely reach one of largest installed DRM footprints in the market.

“As a broadcaster holding a significant amount of acquired content, DRM solutions are critical to our ability to securely deliver key content to the endpoints where our viewers want us to be,” said Richard Beniston, Online Product Manager at Television New Zealand. “The Widevine/Video Cloud solution enables us to extend our service to a number of crucial connected devices, and Brightcove has demonstrated a clear understanding that cross-platform DRM is an integral piece of the puzzle for us.”
