SAN JOSE, Calif. -- Band-X-the worldwide provider of managed voice services for the telecommunications industry, based in the UK-and NexTone CommunicationsR-the leader in scalable session management of real-time IP services such as voice over IP (VoIP)-today announced that Band-X has deployed NexTone's Multiprotocol Session Controller (MSC) as a critical part of Band-X's strategy to expand its VoIP services portfolio, and to support the growing number of carriers to which it provides VoIP interconnections.

NexTone's MSC provides a robust and highly programmable route engine that directs real-time traffic between network endpoints and enables Band-X to dynamically route traffic to any network based on route profitability, availability, and quality. Band-X customers can now enjoy even more cost-effective, high quality, termination of voice minutes worldwide.

"We evaluated products from other vendors, but selected NexTone's MSC for its unique combination of real time routing, scalability, and wide range of interoperability standards," said Richard Elliott, Chairman of Band-X. "The flexibility of the NexTone solution allows simple, first-rate connectivity for the rapidly growing community of VoIP carriers."

New VoIP customers can connect via H.323 or SIP to access the full Band-X supply base of over 100 operators. Furthermore, thanks to Band-X's integrated VoIP and TDM platforms, niche route VoIP suppliers can make their voice termination available immediately to the wide Band-X customer base.
