IRVINE, Calif. -- Broadcom Corporation (Nasdaq: BRCM), a leading provider of highly integrated semiconductor solutions enabling broadband communications, today announced its participation in AT&T's VoIP Innovation and Interoperability Program, which is designed to enable manufacturers to build Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP) consumer and business electronic products compatible with AT&T's VoIP network services.

As a charter member of AT&T's VoIP Innovation and Interoperability Program, Broadcom will work with AT&T to develop VoIP software and chipsets that can be used in a wide variety of consumer-electronic products, including broadband modems, corded and cordless phones, Wi-Fi(R) phones, set-top boxes, residential gateways, personal computers and other consumer communication devices. Consumer products based on Broadcom(R) chips and software will be compatible with AT&T's VoIP backbone network and service offering.

Providing VoIP business services to the marketplace since 1997, AT&T launched a residential VoIP service called AT&T CallVantage(SM) Service earlier this year. Through the use of high-speed Internet connections, like DSL or cable, AT&T delivers typical features such as call waiting, three-way calling, and call forwarding, as well as other more advanced features.
