AT&T Femto: No News Yet

5:05 PM -- I did my regular check-in with AT&T Inc. (NYSE: T) on the status of its femtocell launch Thursday evening.

No update, says Ma Bell. Nada, zilch, nuffink to report.

The carrier, you'll recall, is currently testing a 3G "microcell" for launch sometime later this year. Our sources say that Cisco Systems Inc. (Nasdaq: CSCO) has had a hand in producing the wee beasty, but that isn't official yet. (See AT&T Targets Q2 Femto Launch.)

Anyhoo, we'll be sure to let you all know more when we know more, which should be soon.

I am confused about your article little bit. Did you mean that the launch is/was supposed to be on Thursday? if yes which thursday?

AT&T's due to speak at the "Femtocell Summit" in London next week. Will be interesting to see if it comments on the launch schedule.

re: AT&T Femto: No News Yet Remind me: will AT&T femto support 3G data? Verizon only supports 1X data (not their EVDO).

They're apparently doing two now. First is a standalone femto, then one integrated into gateway later. National rollout by the end of the year. The gateway version is supposed to be 3G, not sure about the standalone yet. Look for a new article later today.
