Apple TV Arrives

9:30 AM -- Now that the new Apple TV has landed, reviews and additional details are beginning to trickle in.

According to iFixit, which stripped down the device, the tiny set-top -- which is only 3.9 inches square and 0.9 inches tall -- contains 8GB of storage, presumably for applications and caching streams. It has 256 megs of RAM and an A4 processor.

iFixit also noted that Apple TV may be the "most eco-friendly set-top box of all time."

Though many reviews praised the video quality, simplicity, and user-friendliness of the device compared to competitors like Roku, the consensus is that it's not yet a replacement for cable.

"If you just want a dead simple movie rental box and you're not that picky about content, the Apple TV is a no-brainer. If, like us, you're looking for options good enough to make you can the cable, Apple's new box still feels a lot like a hobby," Engadget's Joshua Topolsky wrote in that site's thorough review.
