GOTHENBURG, Sweden -- AppGate Network Security has developed a new version of its security solution with increased VPN functionality to further enhance the usability of the product and further increase the difference between AppGate and other SSL-VPN and clientless VPN vendors.

With the new version we make it possible to have the advantages of an IPSec solution combined with the granularity and flexibility of an application-level VPN system. Traditional IPSec based VPNs do not handle individual and flexible access, whereas Application VPNs do not handle full access and all protocols. With this version AppGate handles it all. This functionality can be used for streaming video applications, remote control applications such as VNC or Remote Desktop and other advanced protocols.

“Other added features give the possibility to encrypt the traffic that goes between the AppGate server and the application server which enhance the possibility to have the AppGate server and the application servers at different locations”, says Tomas Olovsson CTO of AppGate Network Security AB.

Tomas continues “Encryption and authentications are not enough to create a secure system. It is important that all components work tightly together including authentication, authorization, rights management, encryption, personal firewalls, intrusion detection and log/report systems. In addition, it is important that the system protects the whole path between the user and the application.”
