Anritsu introduces optical component test system for fast and accurate analysis of WDM systems operating at the C- and L-bands

RICHARDSON, Texas -- Anritsu Company introduces the ME7894A optical component test system that has the performance and measuring speed necessary to evaluate optical components used in WDM transmission systems operating at the C- and L-bands. Comprised of an advanced tunable laser source (TLS), optical power meter, high sensitivity sensor, and control software, the ME7894A test system features excellent dynamic range, allowing it to conduct accurate analysis of optical filters, couplers, isolators, and splitters during R&D and manufacturing. With a measurement wavelength range of 1510 nm ~ 1640 nm, the ME7894A provides full coverage of both the C- and L-bands. The ME7894A can conduct highly accurate and detailed measurements of both bands because it features a dynamic range of >50 dB. Such high dynamic range is accomplished because of the MG9541A TLS, which features 70 dB OSNR, as well as the MA9332A high sensitivity sensor that can accept either connectors or bare fiber coupling. Adding to the testing efficiency of the ME7894A is its high-speed measurement capability. Measurements can be made in <10 sec when the number of measured data points is 5001 at a 20-nm wavelength range and 4-pm wavelength resolution. The speed is achieved in part because of the control software, which allows the ME7894A to be automated and controlled via a PC. With the control software, measurement conditions can be input to a settings window on the PC and results displayed graphically on the screen. A dual-channel AUTO measurement feature that allows the ME7894A to automatically measure up to two channels simultaneously and display the results graphically via the PC is also part of the control software. This is ideally suited to the application of simultaneously measured transmitted and reflected light. Anritsu Corp.
