RICHARDSON, Texas -- Anritsu Company introduces the MD1231A, the first IP network analyzer to meet the stringent portability requirements of service providers while also providing high-level protocol transmit and analysis or data capture capabilities. Weighing only 11 pounds, the MD1231A is a self-contained portable Ethernet test system that transmits, monitors, counts, and decodes the high-level IP protocols needed to test and troubleshoot modern Ethernet and IP networks. The MD1231A has far superior traffic generation, traffic monitoring, protocol support, and performance testing capabilities than test solutions of similar size and weight. It features two interface slots that accept standard 8-port 10/100 Mb or 2-port 1 Gigabit Ethernet interface modules that have a unique in-service (pass through) monitoring mode capability. This Ethernet monitoring and protocol analysis capability at full wire speed enables faster identification and resolution of many different network problems that otherwise cannot be easily accessed. The MD1231A also features a built-in GPS receiver that provides end-to-end network latency measurements with 1 usec resolution for analyzing and troubleshooting IP voice and video networks, as well as network devices. Additionally, no other analyzer of similar size has higher capacity than the MD1231A, which can test 4 Gigabit Ethernet or 16 Fast Ethernet ports, with throughput up to 4 Gbps. All of this capability is in an extremely lightweight and portable instrument that features a built-in PC, screen, pointing device, and on-screen keyboard. The built-in PC and graphical user interface (GUI) use Windows as their platform, and the remote PC control software uses the exact same GUI, making the MD1231A extremely easy to use. Further simplifying operation is a unique one-button network device performance test capability that is based on the RFC2544 standard. Anritsu Corp.
