Android in Sight

9:15 AM -- T-Mobile International AG could be the first operator to launch a Google (Nasdaq: GOOG) Android phone. The operator's chief executive, Hamid Akhavan, told the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona today that it plans to launch the first phone based on the Android platform in the fourth quarter this year, Reuters reports.

The operator also said it will start to sell Apple Inc. (Nasdaq: AAPL)'s iPhone in Austria in the first half of this year. (See iPhone Data Booms at T-Mobile, Schnell! Lock das iPhone! , and T-Mobile Unlocks iPhone.)
