Amdocs Russian Deal 'Worth $180M'

A massive billing system deal with Russian carrier Svyazinvest is worth an estimated $160 million to $180 million over four years to Amdocs Ltd. (NYSE: DOX), and could add 4 or 5 cents to the vendor's earnings in its 2005 financial year, according to Merrill Lynch & Co. Inc. analyst Tal Liani (see IBM, Amdocs Win Monster Deal).

The deal, first uncovered in March 2004 and won in conjunction with partner IBM Corp. (NYSE: IBM), involves the replacement of up to 180 disparate billing modules with a single, unified system (see Amdocs Scores Big in Russia and Amdocs, IBM Partner on Billing & CRM).

Amdocs admits the project is "large, and will take several years to complete," but won't put a total value on the contract. "The revenue we will recognize is a multiple of our regular deals," says an Amdocs spokesman, who adds that a "regular" deal is worth $10 million to $15 million a year.
