CALABASAS, Calif. -- Alcatel (NYSE:ALA - News) today announced a new IP Communication platform, the Alcatel OmniPCX Enterprise, in support of a groundbreaking vision of Interactive Communication that will bring a new wave of productivity to enterprises. Interactive Communication will move enterprises from basic IP telephony connectivity to a new era where communication is fully blended with business processes through advanced communication services and intelligent interaction routing, throughout the enterprise. The Alcatel OmniPCX Enterprise is the industry's first true enterprise-wide IP Communication platform. Based on a single software platform supporting a networked architecture, the natively IP Alcatel OmniPCX Enterprise supports all business communication requirements, from the largest campuses to smaller sites and branch offices. Key components include Linux-based communication manager software that operates on off-the-shelf Linux servers or integrated Alcatel blade servers and a suite of media gateways addressing all configuration sizes. This will allow enterprises to dramatically reduce the integration costs with corporate IS applications by having a single communication platform for the whole enterprise. The Alcatel OmniPCX Enterprise addresses the needs of corporations that seek to establish reliable, trustworthy IP Communications on a converged voice and data IP network. Utilizing a next generation fail-over model, it uniquely provides mission critical availability to any configuration, including networked branch offices. This model includes full geographic redundancy for disaster protection and automatic service recovery for full-featured branch office survivability, crucial for safely integrating branch offices into centrally managed communication systems. This security-by-default principle for IP risk security is a key element of Alcatel's CrystalSec -- a model designed to secure IP Communication and support the global security policies of enterprises. "Interactive Communication will strategically impact enterprises by creating new business value. Beyond reducing total cost of ownership, it will increase customer satisfaction and information worker productivity and open new business opportunities," said Patrick Liot, president, Alcatel Enterprise Networking. "As a strategic building block of Interactive Communication, the Alcatel OmniPCX Enterprise is the ideal platform for deploying enterprise-wide IP Communication solutions, integrating seamlessly with collaborative working applications."
