PARIS -- Alcatel, (Paris: CGEP.PA and NYSE: ALA) a world-wide leader in carrier-class network infrastructure solutions, today announced the first non-stop routing technology for three key Internet routing protocols: BGP, IS-IS and OSPF. The Alcatel Carrier Environment Internet System (ACEIS), recently demonstrated to industry analysts and customers, eliminates core network downtime traditionally caused by corrupt routing information or routine software upgrades. ACEIS is a combination of hardware and software that is integrated with Alcatel core networking products, including initially the Alcatel 7770 Routing Core Platform and 7670 Routing Switch Platform. "We see technologies that boost reliability and availability as essential to give IP-based services the legitimacy needed to become mainstream", said Dr John Ryan, RHK principal and chief analyst. "Indeed, service providers cannot ask banks and government agencies to migrate mission-critical applications to IP infrastructures without providing the assurances that network performance will not be degraded from today's ATM and circuit infrastructures. ACEIS is a big step toward that goal." Alcatel SA
