SAN DIEGO -- AirFiber, Inc., a telecommunications equipment supplier, today announced an agreement with Comsyst Pty Limited that will extend distribution of AirFiber's wireless optical networking products. Under the terms of the OEM agreement, Comsyst will distribute AirFiber's OptiMesh products to customers in Australia. The OptiMesh products will provide networks' solutions for carriers in offering end-to-end, high-bandwidth access from the backbone to the end user. AirFiber's OptiMesh network equipment is a carrier-grade communications system that allows providers to offer true high-bandwidth (622 Mbps) fiber-like access at a fraction of the cost and time required to install fiber to buildings. The OptiMesh network is based on wireless optical networking technology, which has the ability to deliver broadband access over the air for voice, data and multimedia services. AirFiber's network, based on a highly redundant short-link "mesh" or multiple point-to-point architecture, ensures carrier-grade reliability of 99.999% availability even in the most severe weather conditions.

"OptiMesh will dramatically increase the speed with which true high-bandwidth capabilities are delivered to buildings that don't have direct access to a fiber optic network," said Mario Fairlie, managing director, Comsyst. "Together, Comsyst and AirFiber will address the metropolitan broadband access market needs of Australia with the latest technology and a depth of experience."
