BOSTON -- Agilent Technologies Inc. (NYSE:A - News) today announced the extension of its industry-leading NgN Analysis System to monitor and support improved quality of service (QoS) for VoIP session border controlled networks. The solution monitors session border control traffic by assembling and correlating all signaling associated with complex IP peering VoIP calls, which gives service providers visibility into their subscribers' entire service experience. Agilent's NgN Analysis System enables quick identification and resolution of VoIP call control and quality problems, reducing customer defection to competitors through improved QoS.

Primarily used as dynamic firewalls between IP networks to keep unwanted and malicious VoIP traffic off networks, session border controllers (SBCs) also capture detailed QoS metrics that can be used in service assurance applications. Because SBCs serve as both the source and destination for all media streams and signaling messages entering or exiting the provider's network, the data captured and then analyzed by NgN Analysis System can quickly determine the quality of a VoIP call that is coming into or out of a network and the network that introduced the voice quality degradation.
