PALO ALTO, Calif. -- Agilent Technologies Inc. (NYSE:A - news) today appointed Jack Trautman as senior vice president and general manager of Agilent's Automated Test Group. Trautman replaces John Scruggs, who announced his retirement after a 29-year career with Agilent and Hewlett-Packard Company. The Automated Test Group is a part of Agilent's Test and Measurement Organization and is the leading global supplier of automated test equipment and x-ray inspection test equipment for printed circuit boards, semiconductor parametric test equipment, SOC (System-on-a-Chip) and flash memory wafer sort test equipment. Trautman, most recently the vice president and general manager of Agilent's Communications Management Solutions Business Unit, has more than 28 years experience at Agilent and Hewlett-Packard. In 2000, he became general manager of the Data Protection Business at HP, a $1.2 billion business with more than 1,000 employees. Trautman re-joined Agilent last year to lead the integration of Objective Systems Integrators Inc., an operations support systems company acquired by Agilent earlier in 2001. "Jack brings a strong background in the systems business and a proven track record as a successful general manager," said Ned Barnholt, Agilent president and CEO. "I'm delighted to have someone with his overall leadership skills and background to fill the critical position of ATG general manager." Agilent Technologies Inc.
