BARCELONA, Spain -- ADC KRONE (www.adckrone.com), a world leader in telecommunications infrastructure products, will announce the European launch of the innovative Digivance product line at the 3GSM World Congress 2006, 13-16 February - Stand H70a, Hall 2. Digivance, an all-digital Distributed Antenna System (DAS) solution, provides a range of products designed specifically to address the challenges associated with distributing and enhancing capacity and coverage in wireless networks. The company will also introduce a new ClearGain Tower-Mounted Amplifier (TMA) system that increases receiver performance by boosting the uplink (RX) signal of a mobile system, improving quality of service for mobile subscribers.

One of the major technical issues facing mobile operators today is the challenge of keeping up with demands on network capacity. While mobile device use continues to proliferate, factors such as difficulty in obtaining base station planning permission and the effective shrinkage of cell sizes in order to support 3G services make it increasingly difficult to expand or enhance wireless coverage, particularly in densely populated urban areas. Another problem for operators is the existence of wireless 'dead zones' within buildings, where RF signals are unable to achieve sufficient penetration for a consistent mobile service.

Digivance wireless products are designed to provide mobile operators the feature set they need to build high quality networks for their customers. Using the company's patented digital RF transport technology, Digivance products digitise RF signals, transporting them via coax or optical fibre cable to the designated coverage areas. There the signals are reconstructed at full bandwidth and dynamic range, regardless of modulation technology or data rate.

New European wireless products featured at 3GSM 2006 include:

  • Digivance CXD: Operating at 2100 MHz, this UMTS platform enables wireless operators to design and deploy distributed antenna networks in omni-cell, two sector or three sector configurations within a single radio remote. The Digivance CXD utilises digital simulcast of base station radios for advanced network deployments.

  • Digivance IMX: This in-building solution is a Distributed Antenna System (DAS) designed specifically to increase mobile network coverage and enhance wireless reception indoors by distributing RF signals over coax or optical fibre cables throughout buildings or campuses such as hospitals, airports and office blocks. • Digivance WFX: This Wi-Fi wireless LAN Array solution combines a wireless LAN switch with up to 16 integrated access points to deliver 864 Mbps of Wi-Fi bandwidth over a large area, allowing up to 1,024 users to be wirelessly connected to the network. This product portfolio includes solutions for a broad range of applications, from branch offices where bandwidth is not an issue, to hospitals and campuses where maximum bandwidth is required to support an increasing number of Wi-Fi customers.

  • ClearGain Tower-Mounted Amplifier (TMA): This 2100 MHz Dual Inline AISG-compliant product increases receiver performance and improves overall coverage cost effectively. With the ClearGain TMA, wireless carriers can improve signal quality that results in increased subscriber retention and increased billable minutes of use.
