SUNNYVALE, Calif., SAN JOSE, Calif., and HSINCHU, Taiwan -- Accton Technology Corporation, Greenfield Networks, Inc. and IP Infusion Inc. today announced the availability of the industry’s first complete ODM system for metro Ethernet switching applications. The Accton ES4825 supports 24 ports of Gigabit Ethernet and a modular slot for 10-Gigabit uplinks in a compact 1RU form factor. Based on Greenfield’s Packetry switching silicon architecture and IP Infusion’s ZebOS Advanced Routing Suite and Advanced Integration Suite (ARS & AIS), the ES4825 delivers full Layer 2 and Layer 3 metro Ethernet services, including IPv6, MPLS, VPLS, stacked VLANs, and VLAN translation, across all ports at wire speed.

Accton, a world class ODM supplier, has a track record of delivering robust and high-feature networking solutions. The ES4825 metro Ethernet switch platform achieves an unprecedented combination of features, performance, and form-factor, targeted for metro aggregation and access applications. The system is available today with volume production scheduled in Q3 2005. The ES4825 is targeted for high density copper installations requiring IPv6, MPLS, and Layer 2/3 VPN services. A second version, the ES4825A, is available for high density fiber optic-based applications.

The heart of the ES4825 is the Greenfield Packetry family, which enables the most feature-rich Ethernet switching solution in the industry. Packetry delivers robust Layer 2/3/4 packet processing capabilities, including IPv6 routing in hardware and extensive Quality of Service (QoS). The Packetry classification and traffic management functions enable voice over IP and other converged applications that require flow-based priority and bandwidth distribution across the network. Enabling the next-generation metro services in carrier networks, the Packetry family supports extensive service provider features including MPLS switching, stacked VLANs, Layer 2 VPN (martini and VPLS), Layer 3 VPN (RFC 2547bis) and IP tunneling.

IP Infusion’s ZebOS Advanced Routing Suite is a scalable, robust, fully integrated Layer 2, Layer 3 and MPLS switching and routing software solution. With IP Infusion’s ZebOS Advanced Integration Suite, ZebOS ARS are pre-integrated with industry leading silicon platforms such as the Greenfield/Accton ES4825, allowing OEMs to quickly add networking capabilities to their new and existing lines of switching products. ZebOS software enables the ES4825 platform to deliver fully integrated Layer 2 and Layer 3 features for metro area networks.

“Through our partnership with Greenfield Networks and IP Infusion, Accton is now offering a robust platform that has the performance and features to deliver the triple play application of voice, video and data over IP, ideally suited for the metro Ethernet market,” said Mark Wingrove, general manager, Accton UK Design Center.

“The ES4825 platform is the first completely integrated ODM solution that has ever been developed for the metro aggregation and access market,” said Gary Smerdon, president and CEO, Greenfield Networks. “Tight integration of the Packetry devices with the ZebOS routing software enables the delivery of all our advanced features such as full IPv6, MPLS and VPN support across all ports.”

“The combination of Packetry silicon and ZebOS intelligent network software is a powerful solution for a wide range of applications, including the metro edge switching market,” said Perry Constantine, president and CEO, IP Infusion.
