A Conference on Video

9:00 AM -- Everybody seems to be calling it "telepresence," now, but I think we should go back to calling it "videoconferencing." That's what it is. It's different from the videoconferencing of before -- but your computer and phone are different from past generations, and we continue using those words.

I'll have to refer to the Cisco Systems Inc. (Nasdaq: CSCO) product by its proper name, I suppose. But "telepresence" as a lower-case noun is just market speak meant to steer minds into being more impressed than they have to be.

Come on. It's videoconferencing.
