3G iPhone Is Loose

3:35 PM -- Apple Inc. (Nasdaq: AAPL) has finally unveiled details of its 3G model after months of speculation at its worldwide developers conference (WWDC) today.

CEO Steve Jobs revealed the thinner, more-rounded follow-up to the iconic smartphone today. As expected it will have 3G and run Apple's iPhone 2.0 software.

On the face of it, the biggest change is the pricing of the phone. The 8GB 3G model will retail for $199, while the 16GB model will cost $299. Much less than the $500 that the EDGE iPhone originally sold for. (See iPhone II: Touching 3G .)

The phone will hit the street on July 11.
