21CN Update

2:10 PM -- The £10 billion (US$19.8 billion) 21CN project at BT Group plc (NYSE: BT; London: BTA) is one of the most closely watched developments in the global telecom industry, thanks mainly to BT's own heavy promotion of the next-generation network project since it unveiled its plans in June 2004.

Now, nearly three years down the line, BT is preparing a progress update for the likes of EuroBlog. The briefing will be given by Matt Beal, one of the key individuals in the 21CN process, who, we have learned, has himself a new job in addition to his role as 21CN's program director. (See Top Team Changes at BT's 21CN .)

Expect to hear about some changes when we report back from the post-Easter briefing. Quite a bit has changed since the summer of 2004, and we're expecting to see some quite significant decisions made in the next few months too.

Stay tuned, 21CN-watchers!
