SUNNYVALE, Calif. -- Infinera (Nasdaq: INFN) will be showing new technologies and products that continue to lead the optical networking industry at the SC09 conference in Portland. As the first and only company producing optical systems based on large-scale photonic integration, Infinera offers the scalability and flexibility to meet exponentially growing bandwidth demand from the Internet’s power users like the research and education community.

At the Infinera booth at SC09, conference attendees will be able to see a pre-production 100 Gigabit Ethernet Module, designed to deliver 100GbE services in today’s Infinera DTN and over today’s network infrastructure. Also at SC09, Infinera will show its new metro edge platform, the Infinera ATN, which extends the benefits of Infinera’s Digital Optical Networks architecture across the network, from the core to the metro edge.

Infinera continues to lead the industry in the race to 100 Gigabit Ethernet. At this year’s SC09, Infinera is participating in a joint demonstration with Internet2, Level 3 Communications, and Juniper Networks involving interoperation between the Infinera DTN and a Juniper T1600 Series Core Router. Infinera’s Bandwidth Virtualization™ architecture is designed to provide the flexibility and scalability to enable a wide range of services, including potential future 100GbE services, to be delivered over today’s infrastructure. Infinera is working closely with others in the industry to ensure a complete solution for 100GbE, working on issues including industry standards as well as testing and network deployment. Infinera’s current generation of photonic integrated circuits (PICs) put 100 Gb/s of capacity on every Infinera DTN line card. Infinera’s next-generation PICs, designed with capacity of 400 Gb/s on a pair of chips integrating more than 400 optical elements, will enable a significant increase in the capacity and scalability of optical networks.

“The Infinera vision enables seamless scalability of the optical layer, with the application of photonic integration technology to enable an ever-increasing pool of intelligent bandwidth,” said Infinera chief technology officer Drew Perkins.”Our aim is to push the frontiers of the technology forward, while at the same time broadening our product portfolio so our technology can be applied in more parts of the network.”

SC09 takes place at the Oregon Convention Center in Portland. Visitors to the show are invited to stop by the booth #1444 to see detailed information on Infinera products, technology, and the company’s vision of the future of the network.
