STOCKHOLM -- TIME dotCom, one of Malaysia's largest fixed line providers, has appointed Ericsson as the sole supplier to upgrade its existing network to provide high performance broadband services to its customers in major commercial and business areas in Klang Valley as well as in the Northern and Southern part of Malaysia.

Under the agreement, Ericsson will provide a comprehensive portfolio of services, which include supply, delivery, installation, integration, testing and commissioning Ericsson's IP-DSLAM Ethernet DSL Access (EDA), which is a full-IP-based solution for high performance broadband network.

With the contract, TIME dotCom becomes the first wireline and broadband service provider in Malaysia to deploy EDA, enabling it to introduce and offer advanced high performance broadband services such as triple play - a converged service of voice, data and video.

Deploying EDA solution will also lay the foundation for TIME dotCom to quickly deploy new and sophisticated services in the future, such as IPTV, interactive TV and advanced gaming applications in a cost effective manner and put the company in a leading position to secure more opportunities as and when they arise.

Mohd Zamri Salleh, Vice President of Network Services, TIME dotCom says: "We are responding to the customers' demands for higher bandwidth and faster Internet access. This initiative to deploy high performance broadband will ensure that our customers will experience significantly improved broadband performance as well as advanced services in a cost efficient manner. "

"Ericsson has long been a leading telecommunications company with a proven track record for supplying high quality IP/Ethernet DSLAM products with ADSL 2+ as well as a reputation for providing strong support to customers: these are the major reasons why TIME dotcom has chosen them to be the key partner for this project," he added.

President of Ericsson South East Asia, Jan Signell, says: "The triple play phenomenon provides new opportunities for wireline operators like TIME dotCom to tap into the growing share of consumers' demands and spending for high performance broadband services."

"This contract is a significant milestone for Ericsson as this is the first EDA contract for us in Malaysia. We are proud to be selected by TIME dotCom as the key partner for its high speed broadband deployment, and we are fully committed to supporting TIME dotCom in offering the highest quality broadband services to their customers," added Signell.
