STOCKHOLM -- Ericsson today announced that China Netcom awarded the company a second broadband Metropolitan Area Network (MAN) contract for seven additional cities in China - Wuhan, Changsha and Zhuhai, Zhongshan, Foshan, Dongguan and Shunde in GuangDong. This project is added to the breakthrough into China Netcom with the May announced Dalian Internet Protocol (IP) MAN project. Under this contract, Ericsson will deliver the internally developed, high-performance AXI 540-7 Edge Routers to each of these cities. As the total solution supplier, Ericsson will provide to China Netcom all the necessary implementation, training and maintenance services, plus Blackdiamond and Summit 48i Ethernet switches from Extreme. After implementation of these MAN projects, to be completed by the end of September 2001, China Netcom will be the second recent customer win in the Asia Pacific region for the AXI 540 Edge Routers.Ericsson AB
