Broadwing selects Turin's Traverse Multiservice Transport Platform, and Turin appoints William Zerella as Chief Financial Officer

PETALUMA, Calif. -- Turin Networks, a global provider of multiservice optical transport solutions for carrier, wireless and private networks, announced today that Broadwing Communications, LLC, has selected Turin Networks’ Traverse® Multiservice Transport Switch to upgrade their major metropolitan service areas (MSAs) nationwide.

The Traverse platform will serve as a multi-service on-ramp to Broadwing’s all-optical network, enabling the company to deliver new packet-based services more quickly and efficiently.

“Turin’s solution represents an important element in the continuing evolution of the Broadwing network services platform and provides the scalability and versatility we required for this important initiative,” said Dale Richardson, vice president of engineering at Broadwing Communications. “Along with other technologies from other providers, it supports Broadwing's leadership in providing high-value products and capabilities to our customers.”

Zerella brings more than 25 years of industry experience to Turin, having lead financial organizations at a number of public and private technology companies.

Prior to joining Turin Networks, Mr. Zerella was CFO at Infinera where he was instrumental in scaling the company’s business during a period of dramatic growth. Prior to Infinera, Mr. Zerella held CFO positions at Calient Networks, as well as Logictier, and also held senior executive finance positions at GTECH Corporation, and Deloitte & Touche.
