Salary Survey: What's It Worth to You?

We know, from the Beatles, that money can't buy you love. But we also know, from our own Light Reading Salary Surveys, that it can't buy you job satisfaction either.

This will be the fourth year we've asked more than 2,500 of you, our faithful community members, to tell us about your job -- how much you make, how satisfied you are, how hopeful (or not) you are about your employer's future, and more.

In the four years we've conducted the survey, the economic landscape has changed and then changed again, new technologies like SDN and NFV have burst on the scene, and industry titans have fallen while new players emerged. Each year the results have been illuminating, but we expect this year to be the most interesting yet.

The survey takes only about five to 10 minutes to complete, but the data will provide a revealing look at the telecom industry. Your individual answers will be kept in confidence and used only in tabulation with others.

As a reward for your participation, the results will be compiled into a report, available free to all registered members of the Light Reading community in the coming months.

Thank you in advance for your participation. We look forward to sharing the report with you!

And, in the meantime, check out our past reports:

Re: benchmark No, it will be a month or two before the results are out. We are wrapping up the survey portion of it soon. Stay tuned!

benchmark @Sara:

Are the results out yet? I am excitedly looking forward for the telecom salary survey so I can benchmark my own compensation with the rest of the industry :)

Re: Employment trends Ah yes, that's something that got messed up in our transitioning of backend platforms. I will see what I can do to get the PDFs up on the site. Sorry about that!

Re: Employment trends The initial link to the survey table of contents works, but the links from the contents to the material does not.

Re: Employment trends Hmm sorry about that. They work fine for me on Chrome, but I'll look into it. Searching for "Salary Survey" on the site should also surface them.

Re: Employment trends exactly. seems the old links are dead.

Re: Employment trends Do the links to the old surveys work?  Once selecting a topic, I get a blank screen on Chrome and IE browsers, as well as on iPad/Safari.

Re: Re : Salary Survey: What's It Worth to You? Thanks for taking the survey, SachinEE. That's what I'm expecting/hoping to see in the survey. Things were the worst the first year of the survey, primarily due to the economy, and it's improved somewhat in years since. Hopefully this year will show the biggest improvement.

Re : Salary Survey: What's It Worth to You? @Sarah, thanks for the post. I just participated in the survey and gave my opinion. I am eagerly looking forward to the results of this survey. I think overall the economy is picking up and our company is planning to increase the headcount. I really hope economic will pickup from here creating more job opportunities.

Employment trends I'm really interested to see the results this year. We've been able to watch how attitudes change as the economy does and how hiring changes as new technologies emerge. There were definite areas of opportunity in the past -- like LTE engineers. I bet we'll see the same thing happen with SDN this year.

But, YOU tell us!
