Ellacoya and CableMatrix Land Venture Funding

Service control switching player Ellacoya Networks http://www.ellacoya.com landed $7 million in venture capital financing, a large enough amount to fund the company to until it is cash-flow positive, executives say. Atlas Venture, Flagship Venture Partners and Lightspeed Venture Partners participated in the round. Investor confidence in the service control category was undoubtedly bolstered by Cisco Systems Inc.'s $200 million acquisition offer for P-Cube in August. In other news, PacketCable Multimedia (PCMM) start-up CableMatrix http://www.cablematrix.com received an undisclosed investment from the Intel Digital Home Fund, joining earlier investors Veritas Venture Partners, Walden Israel, and US-based EnerTech Capital. While CableMatrix is primarily focused on the PCMM Policy Server space, Ellacoya's switches can also acts as PCMM Application Managers.
