BOCA RATON, Fla. -- CopperCom announced today that it continues to grow its Texas customer base with the signing of Eastex Telephone Cooperative, based in Henderson, Texas. Eastex has deployed CopperCom's Converged Switching eXchange (CSX®) next-generation switch, beginning the project of replacing its legacy switching system. In addition, Eastex will deploy CopperCom's Switchmaxx Unified Self-Care™ Web portal and Voicemaxx voicemail solution.

Beginning operations in mid-1952 with a single exchange, Eastex Telephone has grown to twenty-one (21) exchanges with all digital switching equipment, 200 miles of fiber optic and 4,000 route miles of buried cable. Eastex provides local and long distance telephone service to over 31,000 subscribers in eleven counties: Rusk, Panola, Cherokee, Shelby, Harrison, Hardin, Liberty, Tyler, San Jacinto, Polk and Walker.

"When our Legacy systems were running out of network ports, we evaluated all the Next-Gen switching options. The CopperCom solution, with its IMS-enabled platform, which includes portal and voicemail applications provides us with a system that fulfills our technology requirements now and in the future," said Assistant General Manager Rusty Dorman from Eastex Telephone Cooperative. "We will now be able to generate new revenue opportunities for the cooperative and offer our subscribers value-add services."

"We continue to work with rural cooperatives such as Eastex as they deliver a comprehensive suite of revenue producing services, in a rich tradition of putting their customers first," said Mel Ethem, vice president of sales at CopperCom. "CopperCom is proud to work with Eastex as they transition from legacy to next-gen technology."
