Verizon Posts Net Loss of $212M for Q4

Verizon Communications Inc. (NYSE: VZ) on Tuesday reported a loss of $212 million in the fourth quarter of 2011 on increased pension costs.

The operator posted a net loss of $212 million, or 71 cents per share, compared with a profit of $4.65 billion, or 93 cents per share, in the same quarter a year ago. Excluding non-operational items, the operator made 52 cents per share in adjusted EPS (non-GAAP).

Revenue rose 7.7 percent to $28.44 billion, up from $26.39 billion a year earlier.
